About the Event

Bhakti as a liberatory praxis calls for a radical, intimate, loving devotionality with the Sacred. Practiced by millions, it revolutionized South Asian cultures, disrupting and re-shaping caste and gender hierarchies.

Anjali Rao is the author of Yoga As Embodied Resistance: A Feminist Lens on Caste, Gender and Sacred Resilience in Yoga history. In this event, she shares from her book, and leads us into an exploration of the three very different Bhakti traditions, highlighting stories from different time periods in yoga history.

This session includes lecture, small group discussion and a book signing (for those interested). Books are sold at The Bhakti Yoga Movement Center while supplies last.
